September 16, 2025
Reebelo ($50.3M)
Reebelo
Back Market and Reebelo are both online marketplaces specializing in the sale of used / refurbished electronics (smartphones, tablets, laptops). They strive to reduce e-waste and support the circular economy. Both marketplaces offer a guarantee on devices and the possibility of return within a certain period of time, use some system of verification of sellers to ensure the quality of devices and standards compliance. Both startups operate in the global market.

But Back Market (founded in 2014) is a French startup - one of the world leaders in the refurbished technology segment especially in the US and European markets. It has a larger selection of devices, more mature infrastructure. It provides a minimum 1 year warranty. It actively communicates environmental indicators: how much CO₂ is saved, how many devices are sold, etc.

Reebelo (2019) is a Singapore-based marketplace that operates mainly in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Malaysia, Hong Kong, South Korea. It uses a special “70+ checkpoints” system to check the condition of devices before selling, offers up to 70% discount compared to new devices, so often buying on Reebelo can be slightly cheaper for similar devices, especially in new/fast-growing markets.
